It should consist of hinged scissor jaws that close as the sampler is lifted after sampling and ave approximate dimensions of 152 x 152 x 152 millimetres and sample capacity of 3.5 litres. The device should be light weight that enables fast deployment and which will reduced sediment loss during sampling. The device should be composed of strong stainless steel, (approximate weight 5.9 - 7 kg) and have spring loaded closing mechanisms. The closing mechanism should be triggered by a messenger that travels down an attached rope.
